Truck maintenance periodically
Not only passenger cars, also trucks must be inspected. This General Periodic Inspection ensures you set off with a safe vehicle and it reduces the chance of a breakdown on the road. Trucks fall into a heavy commercial vehicles category.
Every MOT consists a number of essential parts to ensure the car is safely on the road. In our MOT blog you are able to discover which aspects your truck is inspected at during the APK. A number of parts can be found underneath the truck. That is why Bernaards Transport has invested in a modern MOT well for three-axle trailers.
In addition, our garage is equipped with a play detector, headlight tester and a VLT brake tester. In this way, the garage meets all technical requirements, including all health and safety requirements.

Periodic maintenance ensures that your equipment lasts longer. In addition, your vehicles always meet the technical requirements, but also your requirements.

Truck maintenance: our workshop
Bernaards Transport has invested in an MOT well for the maintenance of our own trucks and third parties. This meets the forthcoming requirements.
Brake test bench
The VLT brake tester is equipped with an axle lift system. This saves a lot of time. Because the vehicle is raised, there is more pressure on the brake tester. This ensures that the axle load is simulated. In addition, the brake test was carried out from the cabin, so it results in safer and more efficient work.

Particle counter
VLT particle counters have been specially developed for MOT inspection stations. By means of this particle counter it is possible to measure the number of particulate matter particles with a stationary engine. In this way, the fine particle test can proceed smoothly in the workshop of Bernaards Transport. With this we comply with the APK decision of 1 January 2023.

Backlash detector
A VLT play detector has an automatic and a manual test program. Because the play detector is able to make 16 movements of 100 mm, the detector simulates bends. Play in the ball joints or wheel suspension can be checked in this way without physical effort.

Pressure gauge
The correct pressure of air in the tires ensures more sustainable and safer transport. The workshop is equipped with a pressure gauge to check the tyres. This is accessible for drivers 24/7, so they can always check the tire pressure.
Portal pit jack
A portal pit jack ensures that the mechanics of Bernaards Transport can lift trucks without wheels. With a lifting capacity of 20 tons and adapted applications, it is a tailor-made product.

Maintenance pit
With a new maintenance pit of 20 meters, the workshop of Bernaards Transport meets the occupational health and safety requirements. The pit is equipped with a VLT brake test bench and play detector.
Diagnostic equipment
This allows the mechanics to diagnose all brands of heavy vehicles and trailers. This is indispensable to solve malfunctions in modern advanced vehicles.
Airco Service Station
The air conditioning/climate control system is checked and serviced on all trucks every year. In this way, the operation of the climate control is always optimal and the comfort and safety of the driver is guaranteed. This also applies to the stand/night air conditioner that all vehicles are equipped with.
